Barbecue is good for us.

The Los Angeles Times has noticed what those of us who were fortunate enough to be born in North Carolina have known for a long time: some crazy bastards are smoking some delicious butts and shoulders back home.

Only annoying part: The “Southerners as a curiosity” tone of the writing, a common feature of articles about the South in the NYT and LAT. (The WaPo gets a pass because they seem aware that, in fact, they ARE in the South.) Notice the way they comment on the accent, complete with phonetic spelling.
